Funeral for Cabinet Official, Community Leader to be Held on Friday
Funeral services for the late Mr. Eduardo "Ed" Bernal, community leader and Cabinet official, will be held on Friday, December 1, 2006.
Mr. Bernal passed away on Saturday, November 18, 2006 after a long illness while he was undergoing treatment in the Philippines. He was 67 years old.
Mr. Bernal was the Deputy Director of the Department of Labor and was a former President of the Filipino Community of Guam. He was instrumental in reforming the Department of Labor and pushing new workforce programs, especially for Guam's youth.
"Ed Bernal was a great man who made tremendous contributions to our island," Governor Camacho said. "We are all very saddened by his passing and I ask the people of Guam to send their thoughts and prayers to his family."
Governor Camacho will delivery the eulogy at Mr. Bernal's funeral. The funeral begins at 9 a.m. Friday, December 1, 2006 at St. Anthony Church in Tamuning. Mass service will take place at 1 p.m. at St. Anthony Church, immediately followed by a burial service at Pigo Cemetery in Anigua.
